Design tiles from Scholten & Baijings

Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings founded the eponymous joint design studio SCHOLTEN & BAIJINGS in 2000 and are now widely regarded as one of the most interesting, innovative and dynamic design duos in Europe. Renowned for their sensitive, understated yet functional products, their unusual and often unexpected use of color and their exquisitely designed objects, they have applied their unique style to a wide range of industries, from ceramics to fabrics to a concept car. Scholten & Baijings have received numerous prestigious awards, including the Elle Decoration International Design Award (EDIDA) for Young Designer Talent 2011, a nomination for Designer of the Year at the Wallpaper* Design Awards 2015 and the Oeuvre Prize at the Sanoma Woon Awards 2014. Their products and limited editions are exhibited in museums and galleries, including the Cooper- Hewitt National Design Museum in New York, the Art Institute in Chicago, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. Her clients include Maharam, Hay, Ikea, Karimoku New Standard, Georg Jensen, 1616 / Arita Japan, Moooi, Thomas Eyck and Mini.

Maybe it's not right when we say - all too often - that less is more.less is less. The thing is, less is better. In extreme summary, Scholten & Baijings define their work as "minimalist, but at the same time rich in detail and with a bold color palette". Colour Tiles is a brilliant execution of this theme, with fine patterns, graphic divisions, color gradations and color changes. And if, on the one hand, repetitive geometric patterns almost hypnotize us with their visual effects, on the other hand, sweet memories of the lined and squared paper of our childhood, on which we made our first tentative attempts at drawing, are awakened in us. Once more is less.

Two-fired tile collection with a matt finish for wall coverings, a decorative graphic system that can be combined and consists of five decors that can be combined vertically and horizontally. Realized with serigraphy and offered in eight colors, format 20x20 cm, thickness 8 mm.

The range is complemented by a palette of plain colors that perfectly match the decors for floor coverings made of glazed white stoneware with a plastic-looking matt finish, thickness 7 mm.
