Let there be light - Wever & Ducré from Belgium

The Belgian label Wever & Ducré stands for contemporary lighting. Whether in an old apartment or a café - the design team's LEDs are impressive in many areas. Wever & Ducré achieves something that many designers fail to do: they combine design with high-quality workmanship - and create luminaires that people buy. Although the label appears so fresh and modern, it was launched back in the 1980s. It has since won several awards. Incidentally, the name is made up of a five-point guideline: hard work (WErklust), trust (VERtrouwen), enthusiasm (DUrf), coupled with courage and a good dose of creativity (CREativiteit).

The Wever & Ducré design team draws inspiration from a variety of sources. From nature, for example, as with the SWAM model. With its elegant shapes, the luminaire fits perfectly between shrubs and flowerbeds. They also withstand wind and weather. In the meantime, however, certain lights from the Belgians have long since become classics. Such as the WETRO luminaire, which is made of the finest Italian glass and now has a new look.

With the modern look of Wever & Ducré, the luminaires could just as easily pass as art objects - such as the FINLIN model, which is reminiscent of a wall sculpture in a museum, but is a delicate luminaire. With its minimalist design, it can be integrated into a variety of rooms because the combination can also be constantly changed.

The SCAVA model immediately takes you back to the 1920s. It creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that looks particularly good in hotel rooms and restaurants because it creates warm but not obtrusive light along the walls. It is available in elegant white, matt black or as an eye-catching combination in gold and black.

Small but mighty goes well with the CENO spotlights from Wever & Ducré. It is a series of lights that makes small rooms shine brightly. The luminaires do not take up much space and can be positioned anywhere in the room. The PIRRO series is reminiscent of building blocks or dominoes. The minimalist luminaire can be combined in almost as many ways as building blocks - and produces warm and evenly distributed light. It can contain up to six spots or be recessed into the ceiling.

One of Wever & Ducré's trademarks is small, unobtrusive yet stylish luminaires in appealing colors: The cylindrical SOLID spotlight also deserves these attributes. It is so discreet that it is barely visible, but the effect of the LED and the shape make it very effective. It is part of the SOLID family, in which the spotlights are available in various sizes.

The STREX system from Wever & Ducré is highly versatile: its strip can be used to create practically any variation of mood lighting in a room. There is a choice of opal insets, spot insets, tracklights and various pendant luminaires, which can even be used with indirect light. The system can therefore be used in all kinds of rooms: In hotels, restaurants, bars or stores, but also at home. Incidentally, the light can be conveniently controlled via smartphone or tablet.
