Urban mining: circular economy to reduce emissions
The construction industry produces a considerable proportion of global CO2 emissions. These could be saved through a circular construction industry: The aim here is to build less and work more with existing buildings. The reuse of existing materials can lead to a circular economy. However, this requires the evaluation of existing building materials during the demolition process.

Wohntakt researches new technologies in the real estate sector
Blockchain technology could significantly change the Swiss real estate market in the future. This could create a very interesting starting point for cooperatives, as the division of ownership has always been at the heart of their activities.
Stefan Müller, founder and Managing Director of RAUMTAKT, took a closer look at the topic of "Real estate on the blockchain" in his master's thesis for the University of Applied Sciences in St. Gallen and conducted interviews with twelve experts.

RAUMTAKT was founded in 2014 by Stefan Müller: He was convinced that the time was right to be part of a new era in the construction industry. In a new culture, existing structures are being reinterpreted and buildings are being converted or renovated, be it with additions or extensions. But denser construction is also a way of shaping the world in a sustainable and climate-conscious way. RAUMTAKT advocates the preservation of good building fabric and aims to strengthen the circular economy in the construction sector.

RAUMTAKT has won the pitch for the new South Pole hub
We are pleased to announce that RAUMTAKT was able to hold its own against seven competitors in an invitation-only pitch for the conversion of the premises of the HQs headquarters of the company South Pole in Zurich. The steadily growing workforce is relocating within the Technopark and we were able to help design a working environment that meets today's requirements on almost 1,000 square meters. South Pole protects the climate with 37 locations on six continents.

Space for a new generation. An old family home in Küsnacht with a view of Lake Zurich was transformed into a modern living environment by interior designer Stefan Müller from RAUMTAKT. The young owner family is more than satisfied with the current renovation: "We wanted a modern home. What we got is a paradise with a lake view, double shower, glazed gallery and garden. A house with roots in the family and countless memories. A house with charm and great potential for our future. Converted exactly as we had only hoped in our dreams.

RAUMTAKT Office with a new look. Our office at Grubenstrasse 25a in Zurich-Binz was modernized during the summer vacations. In addition to a refreshed wooden floor, walls and sideboards from Mobles 114, we have divided the 60 square meters into different work areas and intelligently networked them with each other.

Transformation: The new Monami Hub on Europaallee
Anyone who has walked past the corner of Langstrasse opposite the 25hours Hotel in recent months will certainly have noticed it. The conversion of a former nursing home at Langstrasse 119 has taken place. Raumtakt has implemented the transformation for the new office space of the PR agency Monami.

RAUMTAKT has completed a new conversion project at the former Fraumünsterpost on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse: For the globally operating Aquila Capital from Hamburg, we were able to tackle an office conversion at Poststrasse 3 in Zurich city center in 2021.

New Monami office hub: new colors and shapes on Europaallee
The new Monami office hub brings colors and shapes for creativity. For the up-and-coming PR agency Monami, we are planning a new office hub for 25 employees in a former retirement home at Lagerstrasse 119 on Europaallee. The entire property, which used to be a retirement home, will be converted for interim use by real estate innovator Immobilienkosmos for the next five years. New office space is being created on the upper floors, as well as a restaurant and an audio studio.

The SIA inForm and TEC21 organized the excursion on "Circular Building" in Basel. We took part in this extremely instructive and informative guided tour with Barbara Buser from Baubüro in Situ.
The largest building resource in Switzerland is the old building stock. Re-use as part of a more stringently implemented circular economy in the future will change design strategies, construction processes and the way we deal with existing buildings.
